Chad Rory McCabe

Chad Rory McCabe, “I always give my clients more than what they expect to get. I work hard for my customers, and put them first.

Chad McCabe grew up in Bismarck where he graduated from Bismarck High School in 1987.  He was very active in the youth organization, DeMolay and traveled extensively, even receiving the key to Kansas City, Missouri at age 16 from Mayor Richard L. Berkely.  After working in Los Angeles for a year, he attended UND, and in 1990, was named the Thomas J. Clifford Outstanding Freshman at UND for the year.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration in 1992, and a 3.91 GPA, and then obtained a juris doctorate of law from UND School of Law in 1995.

In 1992 and in his senior year at age 22, he was elected to the Grand Forks City Council as the youngest member in history.  He was directly responsible for founding the Grand Forks City Flag and was also instrumental in getting the Alerus Center built.  After his elected term ended in 1996, Chad moved back to Bismarck where he began his career mentoring as a private investigator with former FBI agent William Butcher.  It was through that employment that he then went to mentor as an associate attorney under attorney Ralph A. Vinje in December of 1996.  While at the Vinje Law Firm from 1996-2007, Chad mainly practiced in all aspects of criminal law where he gained a prominent reputation in the area of DUI law.

In 2000, Chad was one of 48 people selected in the United States to attend the Trial Lawyer’s College where he was taught by famed trial attorney Gerry Spence.  In 2002, Chad again attended the Trial Lawyer’s College for the graduate course.  In 2007, Chad opened up the McCabe Law Firm and continued to office share with Mr. Vinje until 2009, and then moved his practice to its current location.  In 2012, Chad was selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America for his work in the practice area of DUI/DWI defense.

Throughout his legal career, Chad has dedicated his practice to the zealous and professional representation of his client’s interests.  He has handled over 4,000 criminal cases, including over 200 jury trials and nearly 3,000 DUI cases.  He also has nearly 100 published appellate opinions and has won an appeal before the United States Supreme Court in Raysor v. United States (U.S. Supreme Court Case No.: 11-8894).”
